Shaykh Ahmad Maeno embraced Islam in 1994 at the age of 18. After graduating from Osaka University of Foreign Studies, majoring in Arabic language and working for a Japanese company in Osaka and Nagoya Mosque, he embarked on a journey of seeking the Sacred Knowledge in the blessed land of Shaam.

In Damascus, he pursued his studies at the famous Abu Noor Islamic Institute, followed by the Shari'a Department in Takhassus division, Fath al-Islami. He was also honoured to study the Islamic sciences with some of the foremost scholars of our time. He received teaching licences in various subjects from one of the greatest scholars of our age, Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi, studying Aqida, Fiqh, Hadith and Suluk under his guidance.

He also studied many other subjects, for example, Ulum al-Hadith, Tafsir, and Tajwid with various illustrious ulema such as Shaykh Tawfiq al-Buti, Shaykh Muhammad Mujir al-Khatib, Shaykh Badruddin Naji, Shaykh Taha Sukkar, Shaykh Adnan Darwish, and the late Shaykh Sadiq Habannaka (May Allah show him mercy).

In 2006, Shaykh Ahmad returned to his home country of Japan to convey the message of Islam to his people and spread the Sacred Knowledge. He teaches privately, and also delivers lectures in various mosques throughout the country. He sums up his approach as follows: delivering the message of "Wasatiyyah (Middle Path) of Islam", Love of Allah and His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, and calling people to Allah, not judging them. In the long-term, he hopes to establish educational institutes and methods of tarbiyah for upcoming generations of Japanese speaking Muslims. Shaykh Ahmed currently lives with his wife and three children.
